Friday night concert:
Duncan Chisholm with support from Hayley & Dylan Richardson Tickets £19/£17, under 16s £8 with an adult Buy tickets Haley and Dylan Richardson are a young sibling duo of traditional Irish musicians from the United States. They have amassed a long list of accomplishments, performed together at venues all over the United States, and shared the stage with many of the icons in Irish music. They released their debut album, ‘Heart on a String’, in March 2015. Haley is the 2015 Junior Fiddler of Dooney and in 2013 won All Ireland Championships in both fiddle and fiddle slow airs. Dylan’s playing is influenced by the legendary John Doyle. His driving rhythms and interesting chord choices back Haley’s melodies perfectly. www.towheads.org |
Duncan Chisholm is one of the most accomplished and authentic interpreters of traditional Highland fiddle music. Duncan's music is elegant, trancelike and laced with strokes of genius. The correlation between music and the natural world lies at the heart of Duncan's motivation and inspiration. Subsequent to the release of his seminal album Redpoint, the elements that make the Highlands of Scotland such a unique canvas have been the force behind Duncan's music - his melodic interpretations seeking to paint imagined visual pictures through music. Having spent recent months touring his superbly evocative Strathglass Trilogy at venues and festivals throughout the UK and Europe, Duncan has enjoyed much deserved international acclaim. He now looks forward to performing at a handpicked selection of Scottish venues during winter 2016 and being part of the Scots Fiddle Festival at The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh. He will be joined on stage tonight with Conal McDonagh and Innes Watson. www.duncanchisholm.com

We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Scots Fiddle Festival with some of the biggest names in fiddle playing. We have brought together a unique line up of fiddlers; Aonghas Grant, Catriona Macdonald, Aidan O'Rourke, Liz Doherty, Paul Anderson and Chris Stout - along with percussionist Allan MacDonald and pianist Mhairi Hall - to share repertoire from their various styles and treat you to a one off performance.
The Scots Fiddle Festival Outreach Project will be opening this special concert. This group of young musicians from across Scotland will be working together for a few months towards performing at the festival. This project has been running for four years to great success, giving a group of young fiddlers an insight in being professional musicians in the form of arranging repertoire, recording and performing.
