Scots Fiddle Festival Outreach Project
The Scots Fiddle Festival Outreach Project has been running for four years. Working with a new group of young fiddle players aged 12-18 on the run up to the festival who then perform at the Saturday night concert at the festival.
Participants work with professional musicians to build repertoire, develop skills and gain confidence in arranging, learning by ear, working as a group, talking to audiences, learning to use microphones, as well as the experience of recording at a top Edinburgh recording studio and performing at the festival where they learn about sound checks, meet the technical crew and play support to top artists. |

year's participants enjoyed the project. Many thanks to Allan MacDonald for making this video |
Scots Fiddle Festival Schools visits
Each year the Scots Fiddle Festival visit a number of schools in and around Edinburgh to talk about the festival, we play some music and get the pupils and teachers involved in singing and clapping along, give them time to ask questions, to educate and share our passion for Scottish music. We also provide an information pack for teachers with resources to use with their pupils. These visits take place during the second week of November and last around half an hour. They work best for the whole school or larger groups of pupils. If you are interested in us visiting your school, please contact [email protected]
