Become a Friend of the Festival Fiddle 2016 is organised by the Scots Fiddle Festival charity, run by volunteers, and our aim is to promote traditional fiddle music. We are inviting everyone who cares about the future of fiddling in Scotland to become a friend of the festival to help keep the event going. By becoming a friend of the festival, you will: help to give traditional fiddling a strong and vibrant future in Scotland, support the many young fiddlers who are taking forward the tradition and who perform at the festival, get the opportunity to help plan the event, receive advance notice of the programme, be entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting. A Friend of the Festival membership is an annual subscription of £20. Get in touch: [email protected] or at the information table during the festival.
What else can I do? Please come to the festival! Tell your friends about it, like and share our Facebook & Twitter posts. These seem like small things to do but are very much appreciated and really help us to spread the word of this great festival.
Why do we need your support?
Running the festival makes a great impact on the Scottish music scene, boosts our culture, tourism, commerce, builds community and friendships, and inspires thousands of people each year, but this comes at a cost in money and volunteers' time. We need to pay for musicians fees and for theiraccommodation, provide meals and transportation, get publicity designed, printed and distributed throughout Scotland & the UK, pay for hire of multiple rooms in our two venues, box office set up and tickets, for the sound and lighting companies, licences, insurance, hire of chairs, tables and instruments.....and much more. We fill in many funding applications each year but the type of things that get funding has changed a lot in the last few years and we now rely a lot more on fundraising to make the festival happen.
